Areas of Practice

Psychotherapy

My practice is primarily psychotherapy-based. I believe that ideal treatment of mental health requires a strong patient-provider relationship, and a thorough understanding of the patient’s life experiences. Regular psychotherapy provides the opportunity for more accurate diagnosis, leading to a more effective and dynamic treatment plan. My psychotherapeutic style is eclectic, and includes aspects of multiple therapies such as CBT, ACT, psychodynamic, and psychoanalytic approaches. In order to offer the best care, I generally see patients a minimum of once per week.

Medication Management

As a psychiatrist, I am fully licensed to prescribe medication. In many cases, medication can help people to overcome neurochemical obstacles, and can work synergistically with psychotherapy. I use an evidence-based approach when prescribing medication, closely considering and reviewing risks and benefits with patients before making a decision. Whenever possible, my goal is to reduce reliance on medications.

Integrative Care

My research interests are focused on the interplay between nutrition and mental health. Available evidence indicates that there are many underlying causes of mental illness, including inflammation, poor nutrition, social isolation, and chronic disease. I incorporate this understanding into my patient care whenever possible. This allows us to use evidence-based interventions such as nutrition, exercise, and meditation to improve mental health without the risk of added side effects.

Telepsychiatry

I offer HIPAA compliant private video visits that can be done from the comfort of your home using your phone, tablet, or computer. Rates are the same as for in-person appointments. Further information will be provided when setting up the initial visit.
